Updating tomtom

Rated 3.83/5 based on 935 customer reviews

The Tom Tom Go 520 is a smart sat nav that may need a phone to unleash its full potential but it's packed with functionality and is achingly simple to use.

The screen is clear and bright, the maps second to none.

Also tried many suggestions from Tom Tom forums, but also without luck. After cache cleanings, re-installations, resets, different USB ports, different computers, different browsers (Tom Tom My Drive) and various other things I saw this new error while Tom Tom was plugged in (for a long time): Again Googled and in few posts found out that Tom Tom device, if connected successfully, should show up in “Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Devices and Printers” and also in “Device Manager\Network adapters”. In the mean time, I got automatically “critical update” for My Tom Tom software (Windows) and it became Tom Tom My Drive. Totally accidentally I tried not Tom Tom original cable.

As I saw later this tip was already mentioned by Tom Tom itself: “Check if the USB cable is faulty.

It's a shame about the battery but the rest of the package more than makes up for it.

The Tom Tom Go 520 is the mid-range general of the Go range.

Since most sat navs will be on sale months after they come out of the factory, it’s worth checking if you have the latest map and downloading if not.

Do you really need to update your sat nav map as regularly as manufacturers would like you to?

I was getting red screen on Tom Tom navigation and a message “Maps not found”. I found such issues similar to mine: “tomtom installation interrupted”, “tomtom not connected”, “tomtom no maps found”.

I tried like ten more times to proceed with copying, but neither was good. Also bumped into this advices from Tom Tom support (copied for the future): None of these tips were helpful. The only thing I was suspecting was the same USB malfunction error.

I needed carefully insert micro connector to the navigation device, because it was not like Tom Tom hook thing and I was afraid to damage micro USB slot in the device itself.

Solution: with the new USB cable I updated the maps on Tom Tom from the first try.
